Timeless and iconic furniture pieces are a good investment: they create so-called bones of your home giving it timeless style and elegance. One of such items is a Wishbone chair, and this roundup is dedicated to its story and some ideas to integrate it into your interiors.
Who Created The Wishbone Chair?
In 1944, Hans Wegner began designing a series of chairs based on portraits of Danish merchants seated in Ming Dynasty chairs. The Wishbone was the last of the series, designed in 1949.

What Is The Wishbone Chair?
The Wishbone chair presents a Y-shaped back that supports an elegant, curved back-and-armrest, removing the need for the heavy arms and back of traditional Western dining chairs. A seat of paper cord is both durable and pliable lending the seat comfort and texture. This sharply bent back rest has a flat inner face, so it does not stick into the back of the person sitting in the chair and the splat is actually forked – to form a pronounced Y that gives the chair its name. The front and back legs of the chair, from the seat down, have the same profile – making the design look simpler – although the back legs are closer together and are splayed out at a slightly greater angle to provide most stability under the center point of the weight of the person when they are sitting down.
