Bamboo is a very summer-like type of wood, which instantly brings a feel of this cool season to your home. If you want to welcome summer, add some bamboo touches here and there – rattan and cane furniture, bamboo stick chargers, art and planters. We’ve gathered the latter ones for you to DIY, take a look and get inspired.
Dining outside is one of my favorite things to do in, and these DIY placemats fit in perfectly with that plan. Bright, festive, and easy to clean (just shake!), I can’t imagine late summer dinners without them now! The pieces are made of bamboo skewers, not wood, which makes the craft very budget-friendly. And even though I know none of us want to talk about it right now, these mats are so easy to roll up and store for winter.
This DIY bamboo pendant light was made for the outdoors. Using reed fencing as the starting point, you can decorate your patio or outdoor dinner fetes with a fully functional outdoor light. You can finish the project in about 2 hours with the steps below. I love the colorful tassels that make the pendant lampshade boho and whimsy.
Starburst is one of those decor pieces that will never go out of style. Don’t have any starburst decor in your home yet? Then read on to see how easy it is to make your own! Yep, these are paper straws that look like bamboo. It could totally pass for a high-end bamboo starburst wreath, don’t you think? Starbursts often come with a mirror in the center and I think they look especially good above a bed or a dresser. You could even glue a round mirror in the center of this wreath if you wanted! Also, paper straws come in a million different colors and designs, so you can mix this up and create whatever look you want to match your decor!
If you have bamboo growing in your yard or garden you know how prolific it can be. Use your bamboo to make everything from garden trellises to these clever and easy to make wind chimes. Find the perfect place for your wind chimes where you can hear their song indoors and out.
Add the texture to a cheap pot to make it more visually interesting and bring a summer feel to the space. For thirty minutes and almost zero cost, bamboo on the pot going vertically looks really fun paired with the horizontal bamboo shades. Get inspired and spruce up your usual cheap pots!
Here’s another sunburst craft, this time it’s a mirror! This sunburst mirror was crafted using bamboo fencing, though you may take bamboo sticks, too. The idea is pretty simple: cutting the sticks and gluing the pieces to each other keeping the texture of the sticks visible. So summer-like and bold!
This DIY bamboo ladder is simple to make and costs about $20 in materials. It offers a tidy way to hang blankets, towels, or magazines, and acts as a chic decorative accent when propped against a blank wall. This project is perfect for any room in the house! Let the ladder dry overnight. When it’s completely dry, sand any excess wood filler and prop in place and use it to hang whatever you like!
Need a cool centerpiece or decoration? Then realize this project! This is a bamboo covered vase with blooms, and the project costs less than $15 for two vases (including the roses, which were the most expensive part). Add some flowers and wrap it with your choice of raffia (pictured), ribbon, yarn, or nothing. And now you have a beautiful vase!
