There are many ideas to decorate a plain wall: choose unusual wallpapers, paint it with some bold color, use an oversized wall art, create a gallery wall or something else. Today I’d like to share another way to decorate your simple walls in a cool way and spruce them a little bit – stencil them!
Stenciling is a very budget-friendly idea to decorate any wall – in a bathroom, bedroom, living room or kitchen, all you need is just a plain wall, a stencil of your choice and some paint. There are so many stencils and patterns you may use: Morocco-inspired, polka dots, chevron, geometric patterns, stripes and many other, find a proper pattern for your space and color. You can buy or make a stencil yourself if there isn’t a proper one that you like.
First of all, paint the wall the color you like, it’ll be your background. Let it dry for some time. Trace an image onto stencil paper. You can use a favorite photo or mimic a pattern from a fashion piece. Use an X-Acto knife to cut the image from your stencil paper. Using stencil tape (or masking tape) adhere your stencil to the wall. Start tracing with a white paint pen. Continue tracing, spacing evenly between each stencil. When you get to the edges you may need to fold your stencil to continue into a corner. Let it dry and enjoy your statement stencil wall.
