What dead spaces in your home stay neglected for years as you don’t know what to do with them? Behind the door nooks, under the window space, staircase landing? The last point is often not discussed even as it seems that you can’t place anything there. But that’s not true, a stair landing can become a very cozy space or a functional one. How? Here are some ideas.
Reading Nooks
The most popular idea is organizing a reading nook on the landing. You will need a usual or built-in windowsill that will double as a daybed, a loveseat or bench. Then you will need bookshelves, and these can be built-in or you can hang some ledges. Add pillows and a blanket and voila!

Sitting Space
Whether you don’t enjoy reading or don’t need a reading nook, you can just make a seat. The idea is the same: a built-in windowsill or a usual one transformed into a cool daybed. This daybed may hide a radiator or provide hidden storage space. Such nooks are extremely inviting for both people and pets.

Decor
No space for any zones? Then finish off the landing with decor: a gallery wall, some mirrors, some art or other decor you love. This way you’ll personalize even that small nook of your home.
A rug and curtains will cozy up any space, and the walls can be decorated with various art.
Plants
A big landing can be turned into a whole orangery! Hang plants on the walls and place them on the floor and bench, if there’s a window, there will be always enough light. Even if it’s a small landing a potted plant can fit there and every step. Keep in mind that plants shouldn’t be impediments for walking, so don’t overdo with them.

Storage
Need additional storage at home? Use the landing! Make some sleek built-in shelves or ledges and store and display whatever you like. Usual shelving units are also nice if you can fit them there. No space for that? Use vertical storage then, and hang anything you wanna see here.
