Working from home has become common and many of us are doing that. If you have several family members who do that, they might get trouble looking for an appropriate space for working at the same time. In this case, a shared home office is a thing, it will allow everyone work with comfort and you won’t have to give several rooms of your home for that.
One Simple Desk
If you work together and have common projects, you might not need separate desks or workspaces but can use just one. Make it wide to have enough space for both, place a couple of matching or mismatching chairs and perhaps some cool decor. Illluminate the workspace with pendant or table lamps and that’s it.
Advantages: not much space required, suitable for small home offices. Matching is not required, you can design the space just like a home office for one person.
Disadvantages: one desk may be not enough for two people at some point.

Shared Desk
A real shared desk is usually a long piece, sometimes a corner one, that can be used not only by two but sometimes by more people. It can be regular or wall-mounted, which is usually more comfortable as you don’t run into all the legs under the top. You may add storage cabinets under the tabletop or prefer open shelves and file cabinets in the room. If you don’t want to order a custom shared desk, you can take some IKEA items, for example, IKEA Alex desks and turn them into a proper shared piece. A shared desk is about unified style and cohesive looks and the chairs are usually matching in such a case but still if you wanna separate the zones visually, you can get different chairs, add different memo boards, plants and desktop decor.
Advantages: not much space required, suitable for small and narrow home offices. The final look is clean and cohesive, great for minimalist and modern homes.
Disadvantages: you will have to order a customized piece for your home office, a long or wide one, and that might cost quite a lot. If not, then you will have to craft such a desk yourself.

Two Desks
The easiest to realize idea is just grabbing two desks and placing them next to each other or in front of each other. In such a case they are usually matching ones to create a cohesive look but you can still mismatch them completely showing off your personalities. In the case of matching desks, choose matching chairs and lamps, too, and vice versa. If you have enough space, you can also place desks quite far from each other not to prevent each other from working, and in this case you can really create your separate hubs for working adding all the details you like.
Advantages: creative looks, especially if you mix and match furniture, you can express each personality. No customizing required, you can just get two usual desks and stack them.
Disadvantages: mix and match might take some time and effort to achieve a stylish look, and if you take two matching pieces, they might seem a bit boring.

How To Style A Shared Home Office?
Storage
Storage is essential in each home office, and when there are several people working, then it’s even more important. The easiest idea is picking desks with storage drawers or at least adding storage cabinets under the desktops. You may also go for open shelving, which usually looks quite airy (great for small spaces) and provides much space. Vintage file cabinets will not only give storage space but will also bring that elegant vintage feel to the room. Floating cabinets and bookcases are also great to store everything you might need. As you aren’t the only person working here, you can brainstorm the best ways to organize your home office altogether.
Decor
Especially because of the fact that there are several different people, each of them might want to express their own personality, and here it’s more important than in a usual home office. Memo and inspiration boards, artworks and gallery walls, photos and figurines, potted plants and flowers are welcome to make each workspace more personal.
