Scandinavian or Nordic home décor is very popular: it’s simple, natural and very chic. This style is also getting more and more popularity for outdoor spaces, too, and as a new outdoor season is almost on, I’d like to share some ideas and some tips on recreating this style in your backyard, terrace or patio.
Colors And Prints
Black and white is a classic and bold contrasting color scheme that is widely used in Scandinavian style, you will often see dark and almost only black terraces spruced up with just a bit of whites or greys – moody décor is a hot trend, and it works for Nordic spaces, too. White and neutrals are also welcome – they will make your outdoor space feel brighter and fresher, bolder and more sunshine-filled. White is another truly Nordic color, and it’s amazing for a more modern feel in the space; if you prefer some vintage, go for neutrals and off-whites.
As for patterns, you may add some to spruce up the space – some stripes or geometry will do but don’t get excessive as Nordic décor is about simplicity and natural beautiful, not about too refined or super lush décor.

Furniture And Décor
Choose furniture according to the feel you wanna achieve in the space: modern or vintage and rustic? If you prefer modern décor, choose sleek wooden, wicker or metal and forged furniture in dark colors or in white. if you want a vice versa look, a rustic and relaxed one, go for reclaimed, weathered and just rustic wooden furniture in warmer shades. You can also craft some items for your terrace yourself using pallets and crates, they will match the style a lot. Considering the color scheme and philosophy of this style, you’ll need a lot of greenery – even if there’s much around, add some potted blooms, too.
