Kids are growing extremely fast, and here their clothes is too small already and the furniture doesn’t fit. If your child is too big for the crib already, don’t throw the piece, just upcycle it into some cool thing. What can you make of an old crib? Here are some DIYs that may inspire you.
Leave the crib in the kids’ room and repurpose it into a toy chest. The front of the crib will be the sides of your chest, and the back of the crib will be the front of the chest. Upholster the top with some coordinating fabric to use it as a bench also and add a handle.
A crib may become a nice swing bench on your porch. Remove the front, then just attach screws and rope or chain. Screw eyebolts in the ceiling and hang the whole thing on your porch. In case you want some changes, spray paint the crib and upholster it before hanging.
Turn a usual cot into a chalkboard desk, maybe even for two people. Remove the top, then chalkboard the desk top and voila. Decorate the desk with various buckets and holders to make it comfier for using.
Love crafting? Make an organizing rack for your sewing nook. Disassemble the crib and take the proper part for your spools. Hammer nails in place to hold them, then attach the whole organizer to the wall. This way you can also make a shoe, accessories or other organizer.
An antique crib can be easily turned into a herb garden! Spray paint the way you like, then let dry and just put some soil and plant the herbs inside. If you don’t like the front part, you can always remove it.
