A pool noodle is a cylindrical piece of polyethylene foam, sometimes hollow. Pool noodles are used by people of all ages while swimming. Pool noodles are useful when learning to swim, for floating, for rescue reaching, in various forms of water play, and for aquatic exercise. The pool noodle is often used to protect sharp edges and corners. But there are much more uses for usual pool noodles!
First of all, pool noodles are used in crafts for children. This craft allows making a summer water sprinkle of a pool noodle, and that’s awesome for kids to have fun outdoors while it’s hot. You need just to puncture the pool noodle randomly around all sides of the noodle. The more holes, the better spray. Then hang it and voila!
More summer outdoor activities for your kids! Make this croquet game in your garden for your kids: set the pool noodle onto the kabob stick and make an arch. Decide where you want the other kabob stick for the opposite end and push into the grass.
One more kids game using noodles is stacking bamboo. You’ll need green pool noodles to turn into bamboo: tan and green lines running the length of the noodles; brown wiggly nodules around the noodle and brown streaks at the ends; tan and green streaks at the ends and coming off the nodules.
If you have a small baby, you can make a baby activity gym to develop him or her. The basic idea is the same as with croquet: bending the noodles and placing them onto some fabric. Then just hang toys and other stuff you like.
If you are having a pool party, there’s no better drink cooler than your pool! Make a floating drink cooler using containers and pool noodles, just attach pool noodles to the container to keep it floating and fill it with ice and your drinks.
More crafts for kids! And this time it’s a headboard of pool noodles. Trace your headboard onto a foam core sheet and then attach pool noodles of the color you like, cut them if needed.
Wreaths are the most popular decorations for outdoors, and you can make a couple of forms for wreaths of pool noodles. Basically, it’s just cutting the noodle, then shaping it as you want and covering with painter’s tape.
The next tutorial is about making an actual wreath of a noodle shape, and it’s not hard at all. Here you’ll get a nautical compass wreath for summer décor but you can substitute the elements of it if you need to.
One more wreath is much more easier than the previous one: it’s just taking a pool noodle and brushstroking it, voila! Colors and patterns are up to you.
A pool noodle garland will be a great idea for summer décor, for parties and other events. Just cut the pool noodles and put them onto threads, then hang where you want.
Need a backdrop for a pool party? Use noodles! Put them onto wire and install where you need, then add other photo booth accessories and voila!
These popsicle postcards are perfect for beach, pool or just summer parties, and pool noodles are the main material for this craft.
Another drink cooler is shaped as a pineapple: it has a round container and pool noodles that remind of this fruit and are attached around it. So fun for a pool party!
