Many of us today work from home, that COVID situation changed everything, and even those of us who didn’t do it before, now do. That means that you should have a home office for comfortable working, it’s necessary on the whole to at least pay some bills from time to time. What if you don’t have any space for a home office? No worries, I bet you have an awkward nook or two that can be turned into lovely cozy working spaces! You may grab any awkward nook in any room and make it a comfortable space to work, and here are some ideas to do that.
Built-Ins
If you have a tiny nook by the window, by the door, between a fireplace and a wall, or maybe between kitchen cabinets, you may go for a built-in. Plan the size of your tiny niche and decide how you will organize it to fulfil all the functions. Usually these are built-in shelves and a matching built-in desk of the width of your niche. Light is a very important point here but if you are tight on space, choose built-in lights in the shelves over your head instead of usual table lamps. If you have a very small desk and shelves, you may get no cabinets at all – sometimes they aren’t needed.

Working Spaces
If you didn’t foresee building in some stuff for a working space or don’t want such drastic changes in your interior, you may just find proper furniture for your tiny nook. Look for small desks, for two-leg and one-leg desks, wall-mounted floating desks or find a popular ladder-like standing shelving unit that includes a desk – such an airy solution can fit very tight spaces. Floating shelves and floating desks can be another nice example of solving this problem. And again, choose a comfortable chair, go for lamps or built-in lights, potted plants and decor. Don’t forget about storage, that’s important for every working space. Get inspired by various ideas below and make use of your awkward nook!
