A pencil case, box or pouch is a necessary thing for every student because they all need to carry pens and pencils, crayons, rulers, erasers and all that stuff. As the school has almost begun I’d like to share some cool tutorials for making kids’ pen and pencil cases to begin this year with joy and fun and to inspire their studying.
The first up is an alligator pencil case made of a wooden box, beads and some bold craft paints. The tutorial is easy: paint the case so that I reminded of an alligator, then turn beads into eyes using paints and glue them to the case.
The second craft is for children who love Peppa Pig. The case is made of felt and cardboard to make it more rigid. Take some poster colors and give a neat outlining with it. Paint the features on Peppa’s face and give his shoes some nice colors.
These fun glittery graphic pencil cases are awesome for girls who love bright colors. You’ll need stencils and lots of glitter to make them, and you can change these patterns if you don’t like them and make your own ones according to the stencils you have.
The next up is a pencil pouch inspired by a card. You’ll need some sewing skills to sew the piece and then to add a hot air balloon applique to it. Stitch some words or phrases you like for your kid.
Love cats? Then it’s time to make a fun cat pencil case for your child! This cat was sewn of felt, and beads act as eyes, and faux leather was used for whiskers.
If you are good at crocheting, the next idea is for you. Crochet a pencil case that looks like a real oversized pencil, it’s so cool! Just do it in proper colors for the piece to resemble a pencil and add a large button to the side to open and close it.
This pencil case will be loved by all boys, as it’s a robot. You’ll need to make a faux leather pouch with a zipper, add buttons for décor and then ears of some other colored leather, and an aerial of the same color. If you don’t like faux leather, change it for felt but leather is more durable.
This is a simple pouch that can be made by anyone. You just sew a simple fabric zipper pouch but to make it more kid-like choose some bold patterned fabric that your kid may like.
This amazing zip-it-up pencil case is my favorite one as it’s the most original. How can you sew one? The secret is that it’s a wide ribbon to which you attach a zipper on all its length. So the case may be fully unzippered or closed to the end.
One more kitty-fans case is made of felt with a cute cat applique attached. The cat applique is made by the author but you can buy a ready one if you don’t like it.
Here’s a craft for boy, it’s a shark pencil case. The shark is sewn from dark denim and some parts are made of black leather, the zipper is put in the mouth.
If you like stitching and embroidering, you’ll love this pouch. It’s made of fabric and embroidery turns it into a notebook sheet with a pencil. You need to embroider the lines and then add a pencil applique; there’s also a vinyl ‘window’ on the side.
No sewing or stitching for these cases! Just plastic pencil boxes, alphabet stickers and markers. Let your kids color the letters and attach the to the boxes in the way they like.
The last craft for today is a minion pencil case, and it’s a sewing project. Grab colorful felt and denim to create a minion and start making the pouch according to the instructions.
