Late fall and winter in most places is the time of pale colors, even snow, when everything is getting ready for a sleep and feels extremely unenergetic. That’s why I think it’s the best time to try out a new trend in interior decor that is popping up and is slowly getting into the category of new classics: maximalism!
Maximalism is a hot home decor trend that is opposite to minimalism and supposes a lot of bright colors in bold combos, prints, refined and colorful furniture, artworks and accessories. This style is about more is more, not less is more as minimalism is, and this is a perfect style for boho, ethnic, global and eclectic spaces and for those homeowners who love it all and want everything at the same time – this is your chance to show all you enjoy with style! But to achieve a chic and not a tasteless look you might need some tips and ideas.
Colors And Styles
Color, bright and sumptuous color, is the base of each maximalist space, and you don’t have to just incorporate some bold touches into a neutral color scheme, you can just have it all! If you want, you can choose a color scheme and stick to it for a more cohesive look but actually you can always rock all the colors that come to your mind. Don’t forget about prints, too, they will bring more eye-catchiness (prefer repetitive print in different colors for more cohesiveness), and play with texture – macrame, fringe, tassels, tiles, faux fur, knit and so on. The same goes to styles, if you can’t choose one or two, skip this idea and mix up everything you like in one room, maximalism has no limitations.
