There are such design features that make your home look either cringe and stupid or unique and very chic. Examples? Stained glass! Stained glass, whether it’s an original feature of a historic home or a newly made piece, usually with some special tape, is a very special thing, around which you should design right to achieve a proper look.
Stained glass as art appeared in the Middle Ages, when the windows of churches and other religious buildings were designed with it. As it’s all about refined and very vintage, I’d say antique, the first way to design around your stained glass is to continue with refined and vintage style that it hints on. Choose vintage-inspired furniture, carved wooden chairs, a bit of gold, antique artworks and exquisite accessories, and your stained glass will look very natural and cohesive in such a space, especially if you include colors that echo with the colors of this glass.

The second idea is doing on the contrary: rocking a super modern or contemporary interior, perhaps done in neutrals to contrast this stained glass. In such a case stained glass won’t look as cohesive part of the space, it will be a bold vintage accent that stands out, especially if the colors around are plain.

If you are going to make such stained glass yourself, think of incorporating it into your interior first. You can also make dark window frames but they will make your stained glass stand out a lot, and if you aren’t going for a vintage chic interior, that won’t work. Choose a neutral window frame not to distract attention from the glass and go for one of two interior types that I’ve mentioned. Get inspired by the ideas below and good luck with your stained glass styling!
