Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. Amigurumi vary in size and there are no restrictions about size or look, and I can’t imagine a better toy for kids or a cuter gift for a girl, literally of any age! Plus, there are pillows and just decorations made in the same techniques. If you are interested how to make some, I’ve prepared some awesome tutorials to make cuties yourself.

These little octopuses were first introduced in Denmark in 2013 where an octopus was crocheted for a preemie. Hospital staff observed that the baby was calmer and was less pulling on its feeding tubes or respirator. Now it can be a great toy for any kid and even an adult! Get inspired!

This is a tutorial about an uncomplicated, classic, no-fuss crochet stuffed bunny rabbit, and the path she took from being an idea to a real bunny. A squishy bunny, lightly stuffed, possibly weighted with those beads or rice on the inside.

It would be fun to make these little bees into pencil toppers! Roll a rectangular piece of felt around a pencil and glued the ends. Each bee took approximately 20-30 mins to make! The crocheting part was fast, but the extra details such as the antennae, eyes, wings, and cheeks took a little more time!

This mini giraffe works up quick making it a great last minute gift or craft fair item. Everything is cuter in miniature, and so is this animal!

Love cats? Then you’ll love making this one! This pattern is interesting because it is worked from the top down as a whole piece. That is, the head, neck and body are one continuous piece! The felt details make him look so adorable with his huge eyes and dainty little nose.

This amigurumi piece is a large whale. The whale is worked in rows, but the row is folded in half and sewn together at the nose to create the front seam. Now this little guy really looks like a humpback whale, and the exaggerated mouth shaping ended up working out well. It’s also definitely bigger in the head and looks less like a torpedo, which makes it also sit better.

Here’s a unicorn. A large, bright and colorful crochet unicorn. The finished piece is quite large, probably close to 15 inches sitting and even more when he’s held up with legs somewhat dangling. Hopefully, he’ll be around to cuddle for a good long time!
