You know that feeling when Halloween’s right around the corner, and suddenly your home doesn’t feel fesive enough? Yeah, I’ve been there. That’s why I decided to whip up a one more little DIY project that’s perfect for adding some Halloween vibes to your home—without going overboard on the scary stuff. This one’s got that cozy boho look, like last wall hanging I’ve made, and they accompany each other well. What I love about this project is how easy it is. Seriously, it’s so simple that even the kids can jump in to help (just be prepared for yarn chaos!). Plus, it brings a festive touch to your decor without spending a fortune—because let’s be real, who doesn’t love saving some cash on seasonal decor?
Materials You’ll Need
- A branch or piece of driftwood (any size you prefer)
- Black acrylic paint
- Yarn in black, orange, and white
- Wooden beads (14mm and 12mm)
- Scissors
- Black felt
- Hot glue gun
- Macrame cord for hanging

Prepping and Making Yarn Brooms
First off, you'll need a branch. And I mean, who doesn’t love a good nature walk, right? If you’re like me, I spent way too long trying to find the perfect one. I wanted something just right—not too big, not too skinny. After what felt like an hour (okay, maybe it was only 20 minutes), I found one. Then, I painted it black. It dries super fast, but trust me, it's easy to get impatient and touch it too soon. Paint fingerprints, anyone?.
Okay, now onto the fun part: the brooms! I was totally inspired by the movie Hocus Pocus for this. The colors—black, white, and orange—just scream classic Halloween. Making these little brooms is as easy as it gets. You just cut yarn into about 12-13 cm pieces, tie them up with a longer piece of black yarn in the middle.
One more tie to shape it and boom, you've got a mini broom. Don’t worry if they’re not perfect—it’s all part of the charm, right?.
I added beads next. Seven wooden ones per broom, just to give them some weight and style. Now, I’ve gotta be honest, threading those beads was trickier than I thought! But after a few tries, I got the hang of it. Also, small tip: the black brooms look really cool if you tie them with a bit of orange yarn at the bottom—it makes them pop!.

Making The BOO Sign And Assembling The Wall Art
Here’s where things get creative. You want to hang the brooms at different heights to make the whole piece look balanced, but not too symmetrical.
I started with the black brooms shorter, the white ones a little longer, and the orange brooms the longest. It’s a small detail, but it makes the whole thing feel more dynamic. Plus, I love how the colors play off each other.
I hung them up on the branch, added a cord and honestly, it was one of those "oh yeah, this is coming together" moments. It’s so satisfying to see something you’ve been working on actually start to look like the vision in your head.
The finishing touch is the felt "Boo" sign. I've printed this template, cut it and used a stencil to cut the sign out from black felt.
I’m not going to lie, getting the letters just right took a bit of patience.
I glued it onto the yarn and attached it to the top of the branch. It’s simple, but it adds that extra Halloween vibe that brings the whole thing together.
And there you have it! A boho-style Halloween wall hanging that’s fun, festive, and totally one-of-a-kind. I hang it on a key holder and welcomes everybody who visit. Honestly, every time I walk past it, the thing makes me smile. It’s one of those projects that looks way more complicated than it really is—and don’t we all love those?.
