A cool crackled effect looks great on renovated furniture if you like rustic style. Although crackle medium is quite expensive. If you want to create the crackle effect without spending a lot of money on it you can use Elmer’s Glue (some similar school glues should work too) and any paint you like.
The process is quite similar to using crackle medium. Paint your surface with an acrylic paint. Smear a generous amount of glue on it. Let the glue dry til it is tacky but not completely dry. Then cover the surface with another paint. The paint should start to crackle very soon so just wait a little bit. For more details and pictures visit Make The Best Of Things.
