We have already told you of simple wood branch coasters made of wood slices, and this is a similar idea but this time we’ll make a bigger piece – a tray. The supplies are a wood slice, acrylic paints of choice, varnish or top coat – waterproof preferable, painter’s tape, masking tape, or washi tape, some paint brushes. Add your main layer of paint and after it dries, apply a type of masking tape to the wood slice in a pattern of your choice. Apply your colors between some of the taped-off regions and let this accent layer dry. After an hour or two, remove the masking tape to reveal your design. When you are sure your paint layers are dry, perhaps overnight, then you can apply your top protective coat in 1 or 2 layers. Let the tray dry and go ahead putting something on it!
